Two new artworks from my Saddle Couturage series will be included in the group show “Add/Subtract”.

“Add/Subtract” is a group exhibition that explores the foundational yet transformational use of addition and subtraction. The show includes the work of Natale Adgnot, Sasha Hallock, Takuji Hamanaka, Beth Humphrey, Ruth Jeyaveeran, Erin Juliana, Joanna Poag, Allie Rex, Tegan Brozyna Roberts, Kate Rusek, Allyson Smith and Hanna Washburn.

Working across media, the artists of “Add/Subtract” find common ground in the dialogue that they cultivate between their materials and processes. For them, making is a dance of give and take as surfaces are assembled and physically built up. Equally important to this conversation is the need to edit; to remove elements in order to create harmony or at times discord. By accumulating and deconstructing disparate elements, the artists of “Add/Subtract” create something new that transcends the sum of its parts.
